Uncle Jackpot volunteered me to be Hash Scribe (without me knowing) and I was accepted, perhaps because no one else was interested, but anyway I don’t think about that. Uncle says I will have to check my spelling as there are some pretty nitpicky academics who never miss a trick to dip their proverbial oar!!

We all met as usual behind the Casino in Estoril, on a bright sunny but slightly chilly afternoon. Lord Egg and Depth Charge had marked a trail in the morning starting from the Bar do Guincho. So we all trundled over to Praia do Abado and prepared ourselves for what turned out to be quite a wheeze, for everybody except poor old Uncle Jackpot who fell behind in the last quarter, and who according to Mismatch was “last”. At least he did not short cut.

Anyway, Mumsie there were about 50 Hashers, human and canine and we all left the car park down onto the beach before a sharp right which took us along the scrub covered rocks and up some pretty stony paths. Mama Mia had all sorts of problems because she was carrying a papoose. Not in Charge dallied and gave a hand which allowed Sunflower who was also be gentlemanly a chance to take off with Bad Hare Day, who turned up late with Curly Wurly and short Back and Sides.

The Rambos had three loops which were about another 5 kms over the Wimps and that was long enough.

Up and down and across this scrubby cliff top we went when we eventually crossed the main road and down the valley up into Charneca I think it is and some very nice houses there. Smoergasbroad and well Preserved were gassing all the way and Lord Egg was trying to explain the rock formations to them, but no one could disagree with him because those of us who were there no nothing about rocks.

Back down to the main road and across on to the beach where we saw the remains of an old forest and a whole lot of sand, and then to the On In. Neeps stayed back and kept his eye out for Uncle who was spluttering a bit but made it to the On In only to find all the snacks had been eaten.

The Hash master called us all to order and down to the down downs. Hares of course first, then the Virgins Melissa Speake, Bill Nilsson and Peter Billton, who told us a bit about them seleves. Retornados were so many, Louise & Karin Billton, Toto,Lorenco & Afonso Miguenes, Erasmus & Karina Nilsson, Diana Pinto, Lusi, Anna & Cliona Sheehy,Big Junper (who will be the new Beermeister), Trolley Dolly, Crunchy, Centre Fold, Depth Charge, Not in Charge, Peanut, Tosser, Well Preserved, Pisser & Wannabet.

The birthdays were Bardess an amazing 380, Cut & Dry 44, Father haggis 65, Lord Egg 60, Maple Stroker 10, Nearly There 10, Peanut 35, Pisser 22, Miss Directed 11.

There were two no Names Karina nilsson and Anna Sheehy, which means at the next Hash they are baptized.

There was a baptism Cliona Sheehy was called Never Ready.

Boomerang and No Moor a couple of the old fogies that still Rambo more-or-less challenged each other to see who could have the most spectacular tumble. They were both bruised and bloodied but a couple of beers and they were right as rain, although No Moor a stickler for convention did ask if hands could be put in pockets as it was so chilly.

The next hash is the away Hash at Marvao and Jackpot will inform everybody of the details well in advance, but did say that the bus will leave from behind the Casino Saturday the 23rd of January at 10:30 hours.

Hash Report #648 – 1 January 2010

Hash Reports
<guid
